You must be joking.

I think you're right with Aston Villa. They really have a good manager.

Man City with the departure of SGE Will transform into the Sean Connery Pronunciation:D

What else IS there that compares two ranked lists...?

Didn't Kendall come up with a ranking system, not sure if it was Howard though.:)

This is what we have so far...
Code: Select all
rs = 1-(6 sum(d²)/(20(20²-1))) = 1-(sum(d²)/1330)

coloin
                 d²
Man U            81
Chelsea          1
Liverpool        36
Arsenal          16
Aston Villa      9
Spurs            64
Everton          25
Man City         100
WBA              64
Newcastle        1

double sum(d²) for coloin because only 10 teams were submitted

sum(d²) for coloin = 794

rs = [edited: AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! I am NEVER AGAIN going to use Windows's built-in calculator! EVER!] 0.403

999_Springs
                   d²
1. Man Utd         81
2. Arsenal         36
3. Chelsea         4
4. Liverpool       25
5. Portsmouth      225
6. A Villa         16
7. Everton         25
8. Tottenham       36
9. Blackburn       25
10. Man City       64
11. Bolton         64
12. Middlesbrough  36
13. West Ham       36
14. Newcastle      9
15. Sunderland     1
16. Wigan          1
17. Fulham         16
18. West Brom      1
19. Stoke          0
20. Hull           225

sum(d²) for 999_Springs = 926

rs = 0.304

Rats.

Hull are SO annoying. I would have been leading if it weren't for them. But then again, the table is meaningless at this stage of the season.

If we don't get more entries I will have to pinch predictions from newspapers. But then again, evaluating rs is extremely tedious.

After the second Saturday of the season, the table has gone completely topsy-turvy with all these shock results, to such an extent that all of the rss are in danger of slipping into negative territory, implying that their own table is more accurate reversed!
(coloin should be grateful that Stoke won 3-2 instead of 4-2...)
Code: Select all
rank  name         d²    rs

1st   tarek        1218  0.084
2nd   ttt          1226  0.078
3rd   999_Springs  1262  0.051
4th   coloin       1316  0.011

These astonishingly low values of rs indicate that there is basically no correlation between any of the posted tables and the real table.

I don't understand why everyone puts Tottenham at about 6th/7th/8th when they did not enter the top half of the table a single time last season.

Anyone else willing to submit their table?

150th post!

Yesterday results were shocking & the Premiership table is even more shocking. I would leave it until mid-season for correlations.

Liverpool nearly had the opportunity to focus on the Premiership. Rafael Benitez must have been having kittens, 27th minutes of ET.

If you're all interested in footy, why don't you do the Guardian's Pick the Score competition? You could even start a friends' league and chat to each other on your own forum.

I'm glad that the Champions league is back on the BBC. I watched it yesterday on their Streaming service. Arsenal were just fantastic.
