Tough luck ttt. Hope you didn't lose any money on them.

Ain't I glad the Italians lost bigtime to the Dutch.:D

Would love to see Mr. Huang Jianxiang's face after that match.:D

This is another interesting football/soccer story:

http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,3396188,00.html

http://www.topnews.in/sports/probe-follow-54-1-win-cologne-area-football-21777

I wonder how they scored 41 goals in a 45-minute half. So it was basically "goal, restart at the centre spot, kick it directly to an opponent player, and then just stand still until the next goal".:)

And since a 54-0 scoreline was too obvious, they made it 54-1.:D

I really enjoyed Friaday 13.06 Euro matches ....

Never have I enjoyed 2 matches in the same day as much

The drama in the Italy-Romania match was surpassed by a mastercalass performance in the Holland-France match ..... What a game:D

Once again the Italians lucked out on the hapless French. A Romanian victory against the Dutch reserves would have forced Italy out but the Dutch (even the reserves) were simply too good.:(

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics has won the NBA championship against the LA Lakers, once again proving that 3 great players (KG5, RA20, PP34) is better than 1 MVP (KB24). Or 1 MVP can't beat two trios of great players in a row (TP9, MG20, TD21).

My daughter has a French schoolgirl over on an exchange. She arrived yesterday and we went to the local Italian restaurant (it was my birthday) . Mistake:!:

The Times today has a little cartoon with an English football supporter looking at a TV screen showing 'France Out' and smiling. His wife asks why, but we here all know:D

But at least they have the consolation of not having to stage the 2012 Olympics.:(

Glyn,

It is you in London who will bear the brunt of the costs and inconvenience of this, but Boris is trying to help!:!::D

What a match last night! I bet few has predicted a Germany-Turkey semi-final instead of a Portugal-Croatia one.:)

I hope it wouldn't turn out to be Russia-Italy in the other semi-final.:(

yes udosuk,

it was an amazing final 3 minutes ........ reminding me of the Man U vs Bayern M final in the Champions league

has any goal been scored later than Semih's goal in the 120+2 minute ?

I remeber a fantastic winning goal by David Platt against Belgium (I think) in the 119th minute.

The amazing thing about Turkey is they have already come back from 2-0 down in the previous match (which was essentially a elimination one) with 15 mins to go. We always love to see never-say-die spirits. I still stick by my Germany prediction before the tournament but I'm also cheering for these boys.:)

I guess for me the most exciting late game winner was the golden goal in WC 2002 when Korea beat Italy. If the golden goal were still in effect today Croatia would have won this match.

Will we see an exciting Dutch-Russian encounter tonight that resembles the 1988 classic? Will Hiddink (previous Korean/Aussie coach) lead his team beat his home country?

BTW, tomorrow Australia plays China in a meaningless WC 2010 qualifying match in my city. Although I have ties to both teams I think I'll pass.

ETAL (Edited To Add Later):

So Spain it was. Was supporting Germany but doesn't matter now.:(

Perhaps here is something to do when getting bored.

With the new Premier League season in the UK starting very soon, post your predictions for the final rankings of teams at the end of the season. Then at the end of the season we will compare with the final table and see who gets closest...
