What am I (MJ 1)

Anything goes, but keep it seemly...

Postal insignias:?:

Postal logos:?:

I don't believe I, nor the clothing referred to in the second clue, have anything to do with the postal system.

Some tough questions, RW.

I have a girl's name, but you wouldn't recognize it as such unless you know what I am. Sorry to be so cryptic, but trust me; this is better than misleading you by simply answering yes.

I am not upside-down. (I'm not that famous postage stamp with the inverted airplane, if that was what you were getting at. Not a bad line of thought though.)

It's is possible that there is a price printed on me. I don't believe this is true, though.

Not a shuriken, emm. The Grub family shuriken were created prior to the 20th century:) You might want to note that I only indicated that the clothing in the second clue may have insignia or logos.

Time for another recap.
The primary clues are:
1) I am an unusual juxtaposition of categories for my type.

2) David's clothing signifies. Faced with a choice, it breaks all ties!

3a) Sprinkler systems may be employed to find me.
or alternately
3b) A woodpecker or shrike may be employed to find me.

Additional information includes:
I am quite rare.

I have nothing to do with mathematics. I am not the mathematical one.

The David in question uses his voice to entertain, but does not sing. He is also a sportsman. He has been identified as David Letterman.

I am a physical object.

"Animal" is the one category I'm not.

"Memento mori" is not a hit, but it could be argued that it is a graze.

The materials I'm made up of have been used in clothing, but it is pretty uncommon clothing, especially taken together.

My unusual construction probably means I am less likely to harbor insects.

I am a work of art (not a painting, statue, or coat of arms though).

I am an inanimate object.

You could find me in a house. My rarity prohibits me from considering myself a household object, though.

I am not a plant.

Letterman, the Late Show, and the Top Ten lists are not part of the answer to "What am I?"

The clothing in clue 2 usually has insignia and logos.

Clue 3 has nothing to do with insects or insect larvae.

I was created in the 20th century.

There are a small number of us. We would be identical except for a fairly minor feature, indicated by the second clue, which makes us each unique.

Not worn in either sense of the word. Funny how the same word can mean different things.

I would assume I am looked at and admired.

No practical use above and beyond being a "work of art".

I don't believe I, nor the clothing referred to in the second clue, have anything to do with the postal system.

I have a girl's name, but you wouldn't recognize it as such unless you know what I am. Sorry to be so cryptic, but trust me; this is better than misleading you by simply answering yes.

I am not upside-down.

It's is possible that there is a price printed on me. I don't believe this is true, though.

I'm not worn, so I am not a uniform. However, there are two distinct options for Letterman's clothing in clue 2 which would tell you something about me. One of those options is a required uniform related to one of his sporting interests.

I've got absolutely no idea about the answer, but does clue #2 have anything to do with the Letterman jacket?

David Letterman's main sporting interest seems to be Indy car racing...

The letterman jacket is one of two good clothing options for clue #2.

I agree with your other observation as well.

Are you a jacket in the sense of a protective covering or a shell?

Are you made of insulation material - glass wool, mineral wool, vegetable fibre?

Or are you made of wood?

I am not a jacket, nor a protective covering or a shell. Such a thing does tend to be part of my construction, though.

I am made of insulation materials. Of course, I am unusual.

I am not made of wood.

[edited to eliminate some potentially misleading information.]

I have nothing to do with the world of sport.

I am not a trophy (though I would likely be highly prized if you owned me).

There is another constructed in a fashion similar to me and my brethren which has more to do with numbers.

You could say that I am not a stranger to those concepts, but they are not what I am really all about.

Not a bad effort, but I'll have to assume you are just hungry. Better eat something or you'll wind up with a headache either way.:)

This could be related to batteries going flat.
