Sorry. As I said, it is true - the 'I' in "what am I" actually refers to me, and I'm not a pencil.

Ok then, this could refer to your age, then you are one of these:

Age.
98, or
92, or
89, or
82, or
29, or
28.

Spending absolutely no effort in trying to solve the puzzle, I noticed that the marked cells have coordinates F45... If you're not a Finn I'd have guessed you're a retired Royal Navy who served at HMS Minerva (F45)...

If treated separately, F4 & F5 are Nikon camera models... So my next guess would be... Are you a photographer?...

Expecting more hints...:?:

Sorry, but you found the correct category, occupation. To find the answer you must make some effort to solve the puzzle...

I have a vivid imagination, so here is my attempt:

We are used to identify cells with RnCn. Now you are using letters.
This Letter-Digit system comes from the game of Chess.

The coordinates of the cells are F45, these 2 cells have a naked pair 29 when you attempt to solve the puzzle.

Now, the question is: Are you a Chef for 5 to 9? This would make you work all night.

An alternative answer: 4+5=9, 2+9=11. 9/11 is a well known date. Are you a terrorist?

I do cook occassionally, but the result isn't always good enough to call me a professional chef. And terrorist...? Only when I terrorize people on the net with my terrifying riddles.:)

Seems you are getting despaired
by a puzzle the riddler prepared
to rise, not fall,
you must find all
information the riddler shared

The riddler has showed his might
as no-one can put up a fight
but do not fear
a hint comes here:
the answer is read left to right

and for those with no progress yet
I'll save you a little sweat
row eight in the middle
equals the strings on a fiddle
and closer to the answer you'll get

The 'sorry' seems to imply that udosuk is wrong about you being a photographer, but in the rest of the sentence you imply that he is right, confusing.

So are you a photographer that doesn't take photos:?:

Anything to do with x-wings or maybe x-rays:?:

Maybe your a radiographer taking x-rays:?:

The 'sorry' implied that he was wrong. The rest of the sentence said that he was correct in trying to find my occupation, instead of age, physical shape (pencil) and other categories that had been tried earlier.

Nope, I don't use a camera regularly, neither do I play with X-wings or X-rays on a regular basis.

Still don't hear the riddler's tune
sound in the night, under a silver moon
just find the empty cells
and read what they tell's
and it'll crack before the end of June

I see 4 deadly patterns. Are you sure you're not a terrorist:?:
