it seems that the "premature" entry is 5.8 (top of page 21) where the forum clock says 09:06:22 GMT

my previous entry was 2.5 (page 20 near bottom), where the forum clock says 08:55:35 GMT

the time-difference is 0:10:47 (almost 11 minutes)

looks like the referee may be using the most recent time skew to adjust for time stamps earlier in the game
this evening I'll look into using raw forum times to compute differences
(it currently unskews each time and then diffs)

also, the pearl count code had an overcount bug -- that will be fixed in this game
but will remain for previous games

so it un-skewed the "08:55:35" post one way
and un-skewed the "09:06:22" post a different way??

there's two things at play
the forum clock slipping ~5min/day or ~12sec/hour
and the referee timestamps truncated to minutes
there is a skew problem when the game first opens -- will fix that first before figuring out your problem
[ edit ] adding a time stamp to the open message and a 1 minute grace to handle time stamp seconds truncation fixed the problem
