Hi mladen,

using as you I assume gridchecker to produce the canonical morph, I can say that I did not have your puzzle.
On my side, the game is over

I have no ambitions in this game. Yesterday I integrated your skfr to gridckecker's generator (as I did before but lost the sources) and ran several passes seeding with all played puzzles. I was surprised by the number of 10.4+ puzzles, it was a good pattern. Few non-played puzzles from the low end appeared, but I will not delay the game completion with them.

Often, I play as long as I see unplayed entry.

I still have in cache ED=6.0 5.8 5.1 5.0 4.9

but I agree that we have now many examples of such ratings.

I hope you do post them as :::more::: so that they will be included in the collection. I thought the idea of the game was to collect many puzzles of a specific pattern. I recently discovered that the game includes lower-end puzzles, so I'm hoping there are some in there that are easy enough for me.

Hi enxio27,

The goal of the game is to win. Winners are the puzzles, that require the most difficult step for the first elimination (diamonds).
In order such puzzles to be generated prior to the competitors, every player tries to investigate the hardest puzzles first.
The patterns, typically announced here, contain millions of unique and minimal puzzles. According to the rules, once a puzzle from a particular category is played, it is forbidden puzzles with the same or lower difficulty to be played. Actually, for the most categories, directly the hardest puzzle (the diamond) is played, this blocking other submissions for the same category. And that is OK because else every player would dump his gigabyte of puzzles.

Taking good puzzles from this game and solving them by hand is good challenge, but I personally am a bad manual solver and these puzzles look to me like strings of digits that only computers can distinguish

g.r.emlin wrote:The Patterns Game is an interactive game played via posts to the Patterns Game topic in the Sudoku Players forum. Although promoted as a game, there is a hidden agenda: a mechanism for generating and cataloging puzzles with interesting properties.

I guess I'm misinterpreting "interesting properties", although going back to early posts, it certainly appears that the purpose was a collection of puzzles in each pattern.

According to the rules, once a puzzle from a particular category is played, it is forbidden puzzles with the same or lower difficulty to be played.

My understanding was that unplayable puzzles could still be placed into the collection by using the :::more::: designator.
