well done, after one hour, I don't have any diamond rating over 6.2.

I'll see to-morrow what comes during the night

Scanning 2000 solution grids from the previous game for this pattern gave 40 puzzles, so my expectation for the number of puzzles is ~100 million.
Currently I have 54 M puzzles in cache with 66 different R.*.* skfr ratings and 19 different *.*.D.
The idea of box 1 was to reduce the diamonds and it worked, at least partially.

it worked. after 4.3 million puzzles, I got only 2 diamonds over 6.2 : 7.1 and 7.2.
This is a pattern where I would be tempted to play for rarity, but I have a very old base of past games sent long ago by Mike so it's not for me.

66 different ER is not bad (I have a 10.4 and a good sequence 9.9 and below) but it is rather expensive to explore the ratings unless pearls produce most of the entries.

Yes, and this makes this game a bit different than others. You and Mike can judge whether it is more or less interesting.

Interesting? Anyway challenging, and perhaps dauntingly difficult for anyone trying for the first time. A candidate puzzle has to pass through three very small hoops: uniqueness (small number of clues makes that rare), being minimal (six clues in one box makes that rare), not starting with singles (again, box 1 makes that rare). My (home-grown) programs don't handle that too well. I'll be interested to see what you two have come up with.

The game could be challenging with several players trying to win. We are far from that.

I stopped the generation a little over 7 million puzzles. I see no chance to find high ratings in the area of potential hardest.
I am still stuck to diamonds 7.1 7.2, but likely 7.3 7.4 should come and I got a 9.1/9.0/9.0

I made a partial "final rating" (using serate) and I have 57 entries in cache to compare to the 66 already in mladen's cache.

As apparently mladen is doing a full scan of that pattern, it will be interesting to see what he finds at the end.

Hmmmmmm......
This is the first pattern submitted by me - a pattern that wouldn't be easily populated with diamonds like it happens in most other games.
After achieving a 10+ puzzle in several hours, I found it suitable and submitted it. Nope, it was boycotted.
Only a 3 years old home PC and 2 years old open source software were used in this exercise.
How you found that such small changes in periphery wouldn't attract newcomers?

Boycotted? Don't understand. Try again (or send me a PM with more details).
