A suggestion.

As two people posted at the same time (almost), emm should be the judge of the best one and whoever she decides loses, should post the next line in the story.

I don't think that it has to be as heavy on emm or as obligatory as that. The next offeror should perhaps be able to pick the line that is attractive to him/her and write another. If this leads to poems going in many directions, then so be it. Jorge Luis Borges understood this in his classic 'Garden of Forking Paths':D

I agree with your point 100%, Bigtone. If there were several stories all at once you might not be able to continue one, but have no problem with one of the others.

It’s not so much about the syllables as the 3 strong beats - da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM.

You can leave one da off at the beginning da DUM da da DUM da da DUM or add an extra da at the end (as mine does) da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM da without wrecking the flow.

It doesn’t work so well when you add extra das at the beginning or in the middle (see line 2). Never mind, practice makes perfect.:D

I’m greedy and I always want all the forking paths.

All the Geeks at the Killer Convention,
A number of them wore top hats and tails.
Gold cuff-links caught the media's attention
Seeing most were not worn by the males.

They gave each one a set of glass trinkets
But the GEM chain caused many travails,
‘Cos some of the group said they think it’s

I hope I'm forgiven for tweaking the first two lines. I really don't want to fiddle with other people's work (or my own) after it's written but those first 2 lines bugged me every time and it seems like such a shame to start off on the wrong foot when greatness is your goal.:D
