Dear MM,
Do you perhaps have an estimate of the number of ED symmetrical WX grids?

Thanks,

A filled pattern is tested with BF method:
0 solution is invalid
1 solution is valid
2 or more solutions is invalid and the BF method is cancelled and not written to file.
On the rare moment the user hits STOP between the 1st found and the 2nd found, BF is cancelled with 1 found en will write this filled pattern to file. And PGExplainer will rate it with 20 points.
SiSeSuSo is in error. This and some other minor bugs keeps me from publishing the next version.

A case that PGexplainer will rate as 20.0 and Sukakuexplainer from Sudokumonster will handle because it has more advanced solving methods and not as result of a possible error from SiSeSuSo described by Hajime above.

PGExplainer only rates vanilla sudokus for the Patterns Game.

If you define "symmetrical", I can scan the ED grid set accordingly.

Better still, just PM me with an email address, and I'll send the ED grid set to you (6.8MB txt, 1MB zip) ...

Dear MM, Thanks for your file. I made another generation run using your grids, but nothing dramatic turned up. A few are listed below (but renumbered). Interestingly, 8 of the 14 have only 8 distinct clue values (true also for 10 of the 12 in my previous posting).

Regards,

Mike

Vond een tijdje geleden dit op het sudocue windoku forum:
Code: Select all
Windoku 22.09.06 (September 22, 2006)

Post by Nasenbaer » Fri Sep 22, 2006 11:36 pm

I recently found my way to the Windokus. They give me a real headache. About 80% are on the "started, but not yet finished" list. Just haven't found all the special Windoku knacks yet. :(

But maybe its because I do them on paper. But today I had some time on my hand and I started experimenting with the SudoCue program. And I picked the September 22, 2006 Windoku.

I filled in my (few) findings and compared the markups to my paper version. Well, I found 4 cells where I missed to eliminate some digits (all in column 9), but also had a naked triple in row 1 and the "5th window" (or what's your name for the special corners) that wasn't (yet) found by SudoCue.

Long story short, that's how far I got:

Code: Select all
.---------------------.---------------------.---------------------.
| 28     1B     359Y  | 359Y   26     35    | 4      7      268   |
| 6      5789   2579  | 1      4      257   | 3      589    259   |
| 2579   4      23579 | 235679 8      257   | 2569   569    1     |
:---------------------+---------------------+---------------------:
| 2579   579    2579  | 2678   3      1     | 56789  4      579   |
| 47     6B     8B    | 47B    5      9     | 1      2      3     |
| 1      3      24579 | 2478   26     2478  | 5789   589    568   |
:---------------------+---------------------+---------------------:
| 358    578    6     | 2458   9      23458 | 2578   1      258   |
| 358    589    1     | 258    7      6     | 2589   3589   4     |
| 479    2B     457R  | 35Y    1      358   | 568    3568   79    |
'---------------------'---------------------'---------------------'

Had graag deze windoku vanaf het begin proberen op te lossen. Deze is spijtig genoeg al deels opgelost.
Indien je het origineel nog moest hebben, zou je het dan willen delen ofwel hier ofwel per private message?

Bedankt,

Peter

Thanks for the ratings. It reveals the progress made by others since I last updated my Sudocue program.

This is the original September 22, 2006 puzzle:

Code: Select all
.......7.6..14.3...4..8...........4..68.5.12..3...........9..1...1.76..4.2.......

I did a -3/+3 vicinity search on above puzzle (that has a SE rating of 6.6 , Turbot fish)
This one needs only Singles, SER=1.2:
Code: Select all
.......9.6..14.2...4..8...........4..68.5.12..3...........9..1...9.76..4.2.......
This one needs lots of chains, SER=9.0:
Code: Select all
.......7.2..94.3...4..8...........4..68.5.12..3...........9..1...1.73..4.2.......
All found 966 puzzles have a ED=x.y/1.2/1.2 rating and all are not minimal.

But, by removing a selection of 4 of the numerous redundant clues from the original puzzle, one arrives at, as one possibility:
Code: Select all
.......7....1..3...4..............4..68.5..2..3...........9..1...1.76..4.2.......  ED=9.2/1.2/1.2

I could not find a (current) list of Windoku / SudokuW puzzles in this thread, so I have been running a collector for some time and keep an update of the results on my website here.
The current list contains 18778 puzzles with 11 clues.
