This is cool, it reduces the entwined 8s to a seperated 8.

I quite like it !

And here's the same pattern less the triple:

Here's another 'broken' one (not as pretty as JPF's):
Code: Select all
 . . . 2 5 . . . .
 . . 6 . . 1 . . .
 . 9 . . . . 4 . .
 8 . . 3 . . . 1 .
 9 . . . . . . . 5
 . 3 . . . 2 . . 6
 . . 1 . . . . 2 .
 . . . 4 . . 8 . .
 . . . . 9 . . . . .SE 7.2

and one with highly symmetric clue values (see the sequences 6514156 and 7941497, as well as the 33 and 22 - only a 2 and 5 are not in a symmetric pattern):
Code: Select all
 . . . 6 5 . . . .
 . . 2 . . 1 . . .
 . 3 . . . . 4 . .        [Edit: a yet more symmetric puzzle]
 7 . . 3 . . . 1 .
 9 . . . . . . . 5
 . 4 . . . 2 . . 6
 . . 1 . . . . 5 .
 . . . 4 . . 2 . .
 . . . . 9 7 . . .  SE 7.2

When investigating the 'Cross plus 4 dots' pattern brought up on the How regular is to generate sudoku with difficulty 9+ SE? thread, I was surprised to find that my program, working in a particular mode, generated puzzles always with the central point redundant. An example is:
Code: Select all
 4 . . . 2 . . . 6
 . 5 . . . . . 8 .
 . . 3 . . . 9 . .
 . . . 1 . 5 . . .
 9 . . . 0 . . . 4
 . . . 6 . 8 . . .
 . . 1 . . . 5 . .
 . 8 . . . . . 7 .
 6 . . . 3 . . . 2

This is SE 7.1 (I deleted a 9.1 by mistake:( ). Given how hard it usually is to generate 20-clue puzzles, I thought this might be of interest.
