I've uploaded a new version of SudokuJigsawExplainer - redownload from: https://github.com/1to9only/SudokuJigsawExplainer/releases
It has some hidden options for generating/saving 8x8 overlapped sudokus.
R1 and C1 are empty of clues and 180 rotational symmetry in the 8x8 region is supported.
To enable the hidden features:
- load this jigsaw layout:
Code: Select all
977788899311122233311122233311122233644455566644455566644455566977788899977788899

- ensure JSB is selected
- ensure Diagonals (X) is UNselected
- close and restart the program

Grid 2 R9 and C9 are empty. I normally uncheck 'Options/Show candidates' before saving image.
You'll also find that to create higher rated puzzles, you'll have to generate many many puzzles!

Longtime ago I saw a duosudoku. It seems the generating process which empties a row/column and was build in into JigsawExplainer as an easteregg isn't working anymore through changes in one of the latest buids.

Yes I can confirm now. The problem was I use different versions in the same directory ending with (1) (2) which share the same JSON file and that causes troubles. Solution : I moved the latest version to another directory with a separate JSON where I use only the latest version.

I dont see a problem with running multiple versions, using the same json file.
The problem is running multiple instances of JigsawExplainer (from the same folder) at the same time.
The solution as noted is to run multiple instances from separate folders.

SE ratings:
Code: Select all
..7..3..9.6..7..8.9..6..7....9..6....4..5....3..4.......3.....6.2.....5.1.....4.. ED=2.8/1.2/1.2
..6.....9.5.....8.4.....7.......6..8....5..6....4..5....3..9..2.2..8..1.1..2..6.. ED=3.4/1.2/1.2

FWIW, here's a minimal, harder (SE mid range) version:
Code: Select all
..7.....9.......8.9..6..7....9..6....4..5....3..4.......3.......2.....5.1.....4..
..6.....9.5.....8.4.....7..........8....5..6....4..5....3..9..2....8..1.1..2..6..
