I don't have a problem with reposting the same puzzle in the correct format, but I think there should be a penalty for the earlier puzzle in the incorrect format. Problem is ... that would require more coding by gsf.

I don't have a problem with reposting the same puzzle in the correct format, but I think there should be a penalty for the earlier puzzle in the incorrect format. Problem is ... that would require more coding by gsf.

this is the problem of comparing raw html against what is rendered by a browser
the parsing is done by unix { ksh sed sort grep }
maybe if there is time over the christmas break I'll post the scripts so others can play with the parser
its part determinism, part magic

I think there are 2 issues here

a post without any data inserted within a "code" flag is considered as neutral

ronk would like to see them getting a penalty. Why not. This would put fun in the game

champagne, it would likely be worse than that. In addition to a penalty, the 10.5 rated puzzle would have been considered "an entry" putting it in the Results list. Not only would it have gotten you negative points, that rating would have become unavailable for everyone else too.

The alternative would have been to wait for Patrice to play, putting him in the lead, and then play your 10.5. The probability of someone else finding a 10.5 before that would have been quiet (typo) slim.

But as I am not anyway welcome here I don't care

You need to do something about that "chip on your shoulder." Rather than "shooting from the hip", perhaps you should count to 100 a few times, perhaps even for an entire day.

My "rule" was a suggestion, but one which I've thought about for a couple of months, and tried on myself for three games, I think. Your response is unreasoned impulsiveness IMO.
