MCC, if your riddles are really topical then the answers of this one should be "North & South Towers, World Trade Center" or "United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11"...

If the answers are not these then it's a matter of your riddle being not topical enough, i.e. your fault instead of ours...:twisted::idea:

I did not say my riddles were topical, just that the last one was. Remember "variety is the spice of life".

In total, they are a group; but singularly, they stand alone.

Seems like you need a nudge.

udosuk wants topicallity, add this to the previous 10.

* Basket case?

I decided No.11 was too confusing so I've edited by deleting [w w w .]

All I'll say at the moment, is that, if you understand any one of these eleven you'll understand what the rest of them are.

emm has got it, they are movies:D

She has got one correct - I know there could be alternate titles, but see if you can discern the ones I used.

emm, can you tell me which clue led you to the fact that they are movies:?:

Now that emm has done the heavy lifting, we probably should try to get the rest of the movie names? I have some candidates for some of them:

#9....." Oh Nettles', What a big nose you have." I can't spell the name of the movie but the leading actor had a big nose. Something like "Cerano De Bergerac". No laughing now at my attempt.:)

No, I wasn't thinking of "Roxanne" though you are correct that Steve Martin did have a long nose in that movie. The movie I was thinking of was produced about the fifties or sixties and I think Jose Ferrer played the lead role with the big nose. I can't relate to the "Oh Nettles" clue though.

That movie was still titled "Cyrano de Bergerac":

There were 4 movies with that name, spanning from 1900 to 1990 (excluding Steve Martin's Roxanne):

Ok then.

udosuk has got "Daddy Long Legs" - The one I was thinking of starred Fred Astaire.

Cec has got "Cyrano De Bergerac" - 'Nettles' refers to the actor John Nettles, who played the character 'Jim Bergerac' in the crime series 'Bergerac' set on the Isle of Jersey. Maybe a little unfair, but I want to draw you away from 'Pinocchio'.

Roxanne, is a modernization of Edmond Rostand's "Cyrano De Bergerac.

* Those people over there. - "Them!".
* Another day down the pit, lass. - "Coal Miner's Daughter".
* Cleopatra.
* You're fixing knives to your shoe's to do what?
* Tipula oleracea. - "Daddy Long Legs".
* Wow! That's deep. - "The Abyss".
* Winged? Pachyderm. - "Dumbo".
* Look at the ground shake.
* Oh Nettles', What a big nose you have. - "Cyrano De Bergerac".
* A city one contains these.
* Basket case

Five to go.
