What Am I? (M1)

Anything goes, but keep it seemly...

I do not have access to an anagram solver that can handle 23 letters, so it would take too long to solve unless I happen by luck upon it, so it's pointless me trying to solve it.

The anagram is only a clue to the answer of 10 letters. You're have to try some other way to clue it.

I get the picture, MCC - this is taking too long! Dare I ask, how long is … no, never mind. I'll take your word for it.

I'm actually chuffed that you battle away single-handedly at my riddles you know. The fact that I happily potter away at yours interminably is irrelevant. I have to be pragmatic - I can’t afford to lose you, so I must give a little bit.

The 22/23 letter anagram, which is a clue to the 10 letter/2 word answer, is a 6/7 word phrase, 2/3 of which are a and of.

Killer anagram wrote:22/23 [6/7 (2/3 = a and of)] => 10[2 (<> it)]

Is this enough of a tidbit to keep you going?:D

No?

How about this?

I've already worked out the anagram yesterday, it's:

"A little bit of this and that"

And have been trying to connect it to:

".it"

Two words - ten letters.

+ "$ brackets"

I will have to think about this.

Emm, by way of interest, how do you produce these wriggley lines from the typewriter?

Cec

On the third row down next to the 'Enter' key above the 'Hash' sign, press this key whilst holding down the 'Shift' Key.

My apologies to MCC and Emm for not responding earlier - I've got no excuse and it's just a complete memory loss on my part.:( It's even more embarrasssing to me because I now have to ask where the "Hash" sign is on the keyboard. I liked your golf swing Emm.

I only ever played golf once Cec. They thought I was practising but I was actually trying to hit the ball.:(

Never mind, did you like my golf shoes?:D

This is the hash key ## next to the $$

The golf shoes on my keyboard are not where MCC's are - maybe it's like the water going down the plughole differently - mine are top left above the Tab.

Thanks emm... here's an octopus's golf shoes ~~~~~~~~

The bad news in golf is that even when you miss hitting the ball it still counts as a stroke on your score. Don't worry, I took 18 on the very first hole I played.
My squiggly lines key ~ is also the same as yours being the top left key above the Tab key. Yes, I liked your golf shoes:)

Looks like our keyboards are different.

Above my tab key are three symbols.

They are (`) and (¬) and (¦)

Although shown as (|) it prints (¦), whereas (¦) which is shown on the key left of "z" prints as (|), confusing, you bet.

Re the riddle:

I thought of "itsy bitsy" but that's only 9 letters.

Thanks also MCC for trying to help. Yes, our keyboards are different - above my tab key and to the left of tab key digit 1 is a tab key showing two symbols.

They are ~ and `

Anyway thanks again and at least I now know how to produce this ~

Stuck? Let's go back to first principles.

Try your old mate John Donne

Original clues for .it

Code: Select all
$$
Tidbits 'neath total filth
Little bit of this and that

It was hard to make the jump from . = flea to . = flea mark but the poem probably made it too easy - especially back to first principles

John Donne wrote:Mark but this flea, and mark in this,
How little that which thou deniest me is ;
It suck'd me first, and now sucks thee,
And in this flea our two bloods mingled be

.it = flea mark + it = flea market

MCC deserves aImage for success and for hanging in there.
