however I note there is no 19 clue puzzle ! .... and it appears there is not one in the whole database file

a quick search got me a lowly 9.0 and eventually a 9.3 [using skfr]

19clue patterns have too less posts to end the game in just one day.

off the top of my head i recall that top1465 #2 is se 9.5 with 18 clues but starts with an initial single 3r6c9 so you get a 19-clue non-minimal 9.5 (skfr 9.3)

this thread reminds me of the hardest 17 thread where i posted a quick solution to the hardest 17 followed immediately by a comment about how i lost my bag with my passport in it in barcelona

I realize that with just a single pattern ... it is possible to iterate through all the ED puzzles and consequently there is no real "game"
so therefore we arnt constrained by the pattern ....

Hi coloin,
reading your post, I checked the status of my seed control data base. I find only 308 puzzles with 20 clues rating around 10.0 and more.
This gives a very small chance to find a good rating using these puzzles reducing the count by 1 plus a vicinity search +/- n.
Having no free core, I can not try it, but I can e mail the corresponding puzzles
