Thanks to both, this is a bad copy of the pattern game.
The wrong puzzles have been discarded,

On the top of my todo list, I have to submit again the entire list of potential hardest played in the games, but as noticed coloin, these good puzzles are already there, so the update should be neutral for these 3.

I prepared a new update of the data base

as for all new files , that update is in my "google drive space" with the name ph_807.zip

the link to that storage place is here

Most of the additions are coming from David Filmer who worked hard in the vicinity of the top known puzzles and from the pattern game (published or not).

The file contains now 1 959 402 puzzles (1 943 739 in the former release)

the count per clue in the data base is the following

the count per clue in the data base is the following

clues Count

20 79 +2
21 10942 +148
22 88039 +814
23 392054
24 702831
25 441576
26 323669

The changes of the count in the low ratings are partly linked to david Filmer search and partly to additions out of the games

The count per er is the following

er Count
11.9 10 +1
11.8 54 +1
11.7 114
11.6 190 +1
11.5 582 +3
11.4 1426 +2
11.3 8600 +6

The main fact is the entry of 2 new puzzles rating >=11.8 thanks to David's intensive search.

I intend to update later this year files showing exotic patterns

EDIT : problem with google drive solved, the file is ready for downloads

Hi Paquita,

I got your mail and the notification of your post.

Welcome first in the forum.
I'll study to-morrow your findings.

To-day, my first check will be to clear morphs of the same puzzle. (no idea so far whether you did it)
If I remember properly, the only known "exotic" property of the source " champagne dry" is the "exocet pattern".

EDIT : sorry paquita, your list is made of morphs of the same puzzle. So, it's good that most of them have the same rating

Are these 2 new 11.8+ puzzles the following (as obtained by a mere diff):
.6.7.....4...8......5..9.1.8..........9..5.3..7.9....4.....35.1...69..2...2...3..;11.90;11.90;11.70;FLK;final2 2018_07;2112889;22;
.6.7.....4...8......5..9.1.....6......9..5.3..7.9....4.....35.1....9..2...2..13..;11.80;11.80;11.80;FLK;final2 2018_07;2112867;22;

It seems there's a problem with the SER. With my version of SE, I get SER = 9.4 and 9.6 respectively.

There has been a problem due to the way files have been transferred to me.
The se mismatch has been seen too late and the potential hardest cleaned after a release.
I don't check the SE rating in the given files.
I'll check the status of the data base for these 2 puzzles.
The next update of the data base could come by the end of this year

EDIT I had in mind one cleaned, it was right
I cleaned the second

OK, but can you confirm that the 2 new 11.8+ puzzles were the two I mentioned?

Hi champagne,

Maybe even after 7 years I would still do the correct thing and link to your update in the head post. Could you direct me to those links please. If it is a specific post that you want a link to to then I can do that too.

PM me if needed.

Hi tarek,

The last updates have all been located in my google drive
the link to that storage place is here

This is the place where I'll put the next updates as long as I can maintain the data base (don't forget my age) but likely some copies are available here and there

That's life.
What I would do in your place is to clean the corresponding post
(and to be ready to come in due time with other findings)

"Richter scale" of Sudoku difficulty

Postby tarek » Wed Nov 14, 2018 8:52 pm

Found by chance from 2012:

Mathematicians create "Richter scale" of Sudoku difficulty (2012)
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mathematicians-create-richter-scale-of-sudoku-difficulty/

Platinum Blonde takes the honour of most difficult one that scale :D
