Around here they're called BUG-lites, as they are a 'lite' version of the BUG pattern. Not all empty cells in the grid included, otherwise they follow the same principle.

The Empire has manufactured a new type of super Tie fighters:

The second is really nice. I'm not sure if the first can qualify as a Tie fighter... I think a Tie fighter has to confront a X-wing in the basic solving path to justify it's name. I've been looking for normal Tie fighters that are defeated by X-wings, but the pattern seems quite impossible:

But I haven't found any with the appropriate solving path yet...

Here's one that's malfunctioning due to a direct hit in the wing that caused a BUG:

It must have been a lucky hit, because the advanced Tie fighter is not always that easy to take down. Here's one that suffered a lot more damage, but it can still fly and defend itself against an X-wing plus some of the more developed wings in use by the rebel Alliance, including XY-wing XYZ-wing and the very high tech Sashimi X-wing. Actually it could still sustain 4 more direct hits without crashing:

Thank you for the explanation. Until now I always thought a bug-lite to be this pattern.

It's minimal but not untouchable. Interesting are the cells r3c6 and r4c7 for altering. They allow some easier or different versions of this puzzle.

This has the same pattern and drives Sudoku Explainer spare, going over 9 many times with a maximum of 9.4.

There seems to be a real problem with this pattern. For what it's worth, the nearest I could get (note order of values around perimeter) was the one below. (This is one of two as yet unsolved patterns on this thread.)
