It is something very special and currently your precious stones are quite scattered through the forum. As far as I have seen in your thread there are only emeralds, but I have seen, you have pearls and sapphires too. Collecting them, the gurth-thread would get a more distinguished character then and won't be based upon a name only.

But there is already a thread explaining all these precious-stone-terms:

http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/viewtopic.php?t=4912

Though I would also like to see gurth create a separate thread listing all his puzzles, from GA00 to GA99 or whatever he's up to now... I'm trying to collect all his puzzles and it's frustrating when they're scattered all over the place...:(

wapati, don't get too angry... I also don't like people talking like moderators when they're not, but from what I read here ronk's tone is alright and it feels he's just suggesting instead of intimidating people... I've surely seen much ruder people around here...:(

Ronk, see my reply to your suggestions on my gurth-thread.

Claudia and udosuk, your suggestions will give me much to think about, which will take time.

Wapati, come to think of it you are right : we do speak air. Which sometimes gets hot!

GA32 : Percy Emerald

Code: Select all
  . 3 4 . . . . 9 .
  7 . . 6 . . . . 4
  9 . . 4 . 7 . 3 .
  . 4 5 . . . 2 . .
  . . . . . . . . .
  . . 8 . . . 5 6 .
  . 7 . 3 . 6 . . 1
  6 . . . . 4 . . 3
  . 1 . . . . 6 7 .

A contribution to shapes. SE 5.6
It happens to be an Emerald: as the clues are symmetrical in value as well as placement, so is the solution. It's a perfectly valid, non-variant sudoku with a unique solution.

Nice shape. With that much information the puzzle is easy ... as placing r5c5 leaves only singles. If SE could play by the same rules, the rating wouldn't be anywhere close to 5.6.

Gurth, you have 2 GA31s now... Should one of them actually be "GA32"?

Also, in the other thread, you have a GA04 which I think should be "GB04" instead...

Hi JPF,

you always expand the limits of my imagination with your sudokus. This sudoku is the first I have seen to be solved with 6 forcing chains only according to SE while having a level 8,3! Unless you count the turbot fish as a forcing chain. I guess one can drop down this number even while choosing another solving way.

I'm always astounished when I see a sudoku SE rated 7,2 only and then it is revealing itself to be a FORCING-CHAIN-MONSTER with 20 forcing chains!

another SE 8,3 with few Forcing Chains

Postby claudiarabia » Sun Nov 05, 2006 8:21 pm

Code: Select all
. . 8 . . 5 . . 3
. 3 . . 1 . . 7 .
5 . . 7 . 9 8 . .
. 9 . . 7 . . 1 .
. . 5 . . 4 3 . .
. 4 . . 2 . . 6 .
6 . . 1 . 2 9 . .
. 2 . . 8 . . 5 .
. . 9 . . 7 . . 1

regarding forcing chains it has only 2 Nishio-Chains, 1 Regional FC and in addition 5 Turbots.:)

r7c6 is omitable.

Airbag with Unique Loop

Postby claudiarabia » Tue Nov 07, 2006 4:26 am

an airbag in action

A very easy puzzle. It has a Unique Loop Type 2. I have no idea how you call this. I didn't find such in the forum until now. But you just have another name for this here, I'm sure. That's why I didn't find it yet. There must be 4 types too like with UR.

I like it. There are a lot of turbots inside.

There are chains, and there are CHAINS.

It is like patterns, say a solver said "only 10 patterns" but they are all w-wings.

Easy, if you know x-wings.

!0 patterns that require all the fishies, harder!

Same with chains, it covers a lot of flavours.
