No new users allowed?

Postby denis_berthier » Thu Jan 15, 2026 3:52 am

.
I received a PM via one of my publishers, from a new user "Husker". It says new users can register but they remain indefinitely (at least 5 months in the present case) in the limbos of a "New User" group.
They can post but their posts never appear.

Is there still any Moderator to approve these posts and/or to update the user status?

Moderators probably all are retired. I remember, that posts of newcomers were hold back for 3 days, until the 3rd post.

So is there anything new on this?

It would appear that we have no administrators and no moderators. With neither, no new members can post. With no new participants, the forum will eventually die. What can or should we do about it?

Hi Steve,
You can read some history here
Since 2022 Jason is not able to contribute anymore.
EnjoySudoku is sold to persons who are not contributing also.
Now the last moderator Pat is not around lately.
Looks like we are drifting on a melting ice floe.

Surely, we need fresh members to keep this forum active.

I receive at least 2 requests per week from guys willing to have access to my google drive.
Likely most of them are silent viewers on this forum.

it seems that nobody has access to the nex holders of the forum

Thanks, all. We seem to agree that we have a problem, but no one has a solution. Is there anyone able to make contact with the owners?

If the forum should die, do we have alternatives? Dailysudoku.com appears to be alive at least. Others?

Just thinking to myself. Has anyone tested the procedure suggested by eleven's answer:
register as a new user; make three posts (i.e. don't let you be deterred by not seeing your first two posts) and wait until the supposed 3 days before they (automatically?) start to appear.
After answering privately Husker's questions, I've no news of him.

I have. A user that's stuck on the three posts which are waiting admin approval

So that's stalls as well.

Does anyone know how to make contact with the owners? Does anyone have private contact with previous moderators or admins? Perhaps they could make contact with the owners.

See this.

The wesite is in the hands of witches(!). In June 2022, jpf and I tried to contact them. I even managed to phone. All to no avail. You can try john@FoolsDog.com if you want. The site will one day expire.

indeed it sucks

initial posts by newcomers
are held in q

the q should be limited to 1 per newcomer

it is NOT limited

spammers join and flood the q

there is no way a Moderator can keep up

One moderator can not keep up...
But you are the last known active...
Can you make some new moderator accounts?
Or share your password to some trusted friends...
