Excuse me? Are you trying to say that Corruption is a Scottish invention?

Anyway, the answer is The Government.

• Corruption = immorality / decay
• Education = schooling / instruction
• Hard Rock = cafe
• OS = oversize / a lot
• Phone = talk / communicate
• Steam = hot air / water

Wagging school and spending a lot of time talking hot air in cafes leads to moral decay.

Might be (although I'm open to bribes). Most everything was invented by either the Scots or the Chinese (with the exception of the Black Hole to which we credit an Indian).

Education - Duns Scotis (and many others - all Scottish).
Hard Rock - plenty of basalt and granite in Scotland.
OS could be Ordnance Survey - commisioned by the English King George II but started in the Scottish Highlands under the supervision of William Roy, a Scottish surveyor.
Phone invented by Alexander Graham Bell (Scottish).
Steam engine was a bit of a no-goer until James Watt (a Scott) patented his version in the late 18th century.

Great attempts mates... Althought not hitting the "exact spot" you've all giving some excellent answer...

UQ was right on the line (it's geographically related)... But not the right country... Think more modernly... (Though with the corruption issue I'm not sure if the origin of ICAC was somehow related to the Scotland Yard, which might not be exactly Scottish though...)

Luna's answer of "government" is not bad too... Though you need to stretch a bit too far to associate "hard rock" & "steam"...

emm once again showed her great imagination... And somehow it made me feel sad... I guess most of us have misspent or are misspending our youths...

Okay, here comes the next batch of clues... They should be paired up with the original set of 6 clues to describe the answer to this riddle - but not necessary in the same order...

Pair these up with the original 6 clues!

Nice try tarek...:) Not right though...

Some clarifications:

If you pair up the 2 sets of 6 words, you get 6 different concepts, all related to the answer...

Here is the partner word for the 7th extra clue (Maiden):

I think one certain member here should know the answer sooner than others...

I would post another set of 6 words tonight if it isn't solved by then...

JPF has got it right... But I thought another person should have been the hot favourite to solve it... Guess that person is too busy solving puzzles...:)

Luna, do you mean cricket as an insect or as a sport? Anyway I think "Shane Warne" is a better choice... But they're all wrong... The answer, like JPF said, is a country...

The game is not over yet... Could somebody show the correct pairing of the 2 sets of 6 clues?:?:
