Is this to do with sport eg. British Open Golf Championship?

You could consider it as a competition...

If it's about the British Open, I wonder who are the #9 & #10 Aussies and who are the boss and employee...

How about:

Boss - J.B.Holmes
Employee - Tom Watson

As for the Aussies - as a guess, let's try Nick O'Hern and Mark Hemsby.

What about Geoff Ogilvy and Adam Scott, our major golfers at the moment?

Check out the world rankings, they're #7 & #6 respectively...

BTW I think the name should be Mark Hensby...:) (Although I probably don't have any place for this name correcting business after the quacking-sucking incident...:D )

And no the riddle is not about British Open Golf, or the Golf rankings...

2. #3 likes football.

3. #4 & #6 come often.

Nothing to do with Formula One or other motor racing format... (What could the 2 Aussies be? Mark Webber is certainly not in the same class as Alan Jones... But we do produce good motor bike drivers over the years... Not to mention the tough to figure "V8 Supercars" which I have no interest whatsoever...)

I wonder why nobody mentioned Warnie, Murali, etc... (And no the riddle isn't about cricket either...)

Not yatchs [correction: yachts]...

coloin's probably got it... You must be talking about Cristian (not a popular guy in England now) instead of the bald Brazilian...

#14's is probably related to another great football player...:D
