It finally dawned on me that Frankie did sing a song that has some relationship to the riddle.

Thanks, what a coincidence !

2006 starts on a Sunday and ends on a Sunday.
It hopefully will ring out "It was a very good year" by F Sinatra

2+0+0+6 = 8:!:

But this is not right

coloin, you should have held back and submitted that one as another riddle. Same riddle but different answer.

So is 2006 the answer?

Another possible one is the 8-day period between the Christmas Eve and the New Years Eve (inclusive) this year... What is missing? The Boxing Day Test in Melbourne where Australia would crush England by an innings and 533 runs en route to a 5-0 whitewash?

I can think of an answer. Is what's missing a Roman god?

Q4. I was just idly noting that the 4th quarter of this calendar year (1 Oct to 31 Dec inclusive) starts and ends with a Sun(day).
