As you say, it's a "what" not a "who".

What is an 'object': It is a material thing that can be seen or touched.

So that in a sense, when not being used, "What am I :?:

" is an object, and when it is in use, "What am I :?:

" is not an object.

I think this statement alone makes a pretty perplexing riddle itself...

E.g. food... When not eaten it's an object, once eaten and becomes the energy within our bodies it's not an object anymore...

Sorry for any confusion this has caused, they are just typos. I tried to refer back to the original post whilst typing that reply but the 'topic review' wouldn't go back that far on the screen I was in (I should have open up a new screen).

So just concentrate on the wording of the riddle.
