The reason I ask is that one of your pearls has a 4.3 diamond rating - and 4.3 shouldn't be possible with 1.2.1 SE. It's no big deal if this is the case, I can run SE on them here and update the ones that are different, just want to confirm that this is the issue.

Did you rate both morphs of this puzzle (minlex and canonical) with your Sukaku version? I can't as I don't have the minlex morph. Could it be that the different outcomes can be explained by the morph dependency of the SukakuExplainer?

Min Lexing tools are available… using gsf’s or gridchecker.
As Denis says … a rating system shouldn’t depend on isomorphic variation !!!
And of course …. It’s not clear why these high rated puzzles arnt rated highly ( at all ) by suexratt and by gsf -q2
But there will be many to re-find I suspect !

Conversely, there are easy puzzles with SER 7.2 but rated very high (> 95000) by q2

This version is probably fine, but we rate in 1.2.1 mode so you'll need to enable that in the GUI or specify techs in the command line. See https://github.com/SudokuMonster/Sukaku ... parameters for command line (you'll want to find the revision for 1.15.X to get the correct tech string). Or you can update to 1.17.8+ to use the current string on that page.

There is also https://github.com/1to9only/PGExplainer which should give the same results, but I haven't actually switched over to using it yet - planning to run some tests at some point, and marking puzzles somehow if they are rated with this just so we can track them if a discrepancy is found.

I keep meaning to add suexratt and see if any of mine *are* highly rated there, but I've never gotten around to it. (I have columns for additional ratings already in the database.

As for which grid is rated, I have two separate columns for this: one is the "db_puzzle" which is whatever puzzle was provided to me (typically the maxlex canonical), whether from champagne's database or more recently; the other is "minlex_puzzle", which I have generated from gsf for all puzzles (for the purpose of checking whether a puzzle is new). For puzzles with a db_puzzle, the rating is based on this (it's the rating I was provided). For all other puzzles (the ones I've generated), the rating is based on the gsf minlex. At some point in the future I will re-rate all db_puzzles above some cutoff (11.6 probably), and their minlex to check for discrepancies (I also tend to morph my 11.8s and add those morphs as db_puzzle for them, so I should re-rate those when I do just to be sure they don't change).

hendrik, when I rerun yours I'll check both just so we can see if any of them rate differently.

(Also, any that were already rated in my database will be based on minlex - other than that one I pointed out yesterday I didn't see any rated differently, but I'll check that too.)

Incidentally, as has been discussed previous gsf's minlex implementation (and the code it is based on) has a known bug which results in not always giving the actual minlex form. rangsk (from CTC discord) put together a fixed minlex tool recently (along with a tool for Sudoku X and Anti-Knight, since we have been exploring minimals for those with ryokousha), so at some point I will also be getting the correct minlex form for the highly rated puzzles and check their ratings again for that. It is currently too slow to consider switching the whole database over, and I can't really do a mix since I am using gsf for checking new puzzles, but if we find sufficient optimizations... I probably still won't switch given the sheer size of the database but maybe.

Ordinarily I would find it unusual that I'm getting more 11.7s than 11.6s, but with the filters disabled the +2-2 and +2-1 scripts are much much slower, and are still getting through some 11.8s and 11.7s - so, probably hitting more neighbors there currently than the 11.6s, and then expanding them.

After updating, the database currently has 3770 puzzles rated 11.6+, and 2930ish still need to go through the changer/adder scripts. Yikes. May be a while yet before it's caught up.

Is it a coincidence that all new 11.6 and 11.7 findings have an ED=x.y/1.2/1.2 form ?

The majority of the new ones are from the expander script - taking an 11.7 (or 11.6), adding all possible singles, and then finding all minimals. These puzzles are guaranteed to have singles available as a result. Any given hard puzzle with singles may come with a large number of friends (whereas when it does find a puzzle with no singles, there is nothing to expand, so those usually come alone or with a small number of close neighbors).

The number of puzzles is a bit misleading, of course, since puzzles from the same non-minimal are (usually) the same in some sense. At some point I may add a column to the database for this (the minlex form of the non-minimal parent). (Occasionally a minimal will be harder than the parent, removing a digit that can't be placed as a single, but it's pretty rare.)

(I do have an 11.6 pearl in the currently running batch, at 23c. The rest are /1.2/1.2 though.)
