I’m not sure it’ll work for other patterns.

a command line [--ED ] which will only give ED* for a puzzle (i.e. terminate rating after calculating ED)

Easy to understand the request of JPF. I just introduced that option in my solver after that game, but the correlation with Sudoku Explainer is far from being perfect.

Still remains the necessity to have an appropriate strategy to generate these difficult puzzles. Mine is far from being efficient

In that list, puzzles with ED 10.x have been found "off limits", in my tests of a revised process focusing on hard puzzles.

Despite tens (more than one hundred) puzzles found with 10.x rating, only one was diamond.
