that's the intention
convincing the referee to ignore the idle time from last wednesday is the problem
we'll know if the referee took the bait in a minute ...

if you posted your puzzle on Monday before re-starting g.r.emlin,
then certainly the intervening idle time would be ignored.

if you first re-started g.r.emlin,
there's a risk it would detect the idle time --
even then,
it should first give a 2-hour warning,
shouldn't it ?

trying to answer this post I figured out the problem

the referee and the scorer are two separate programs, each with separate state
the referee runs continuously in the background
the scorer runs periodically

the scorer determines the time of the last entry
the referee uses that to set its idle time
I had manually reset the idle time in the referee state before restarting it
but it then ran the scorer and reset the idle time based on the scorer last entry time

the fix is to only let the referee re-set the idle time into the future
along with automatically resetting the idle time when the referee re-starts
then a manual edit of state files can be avoided
