we could enter a endless discussion.

1) If I had not been in a winning position, i would for sure have submitted that puzzle.

2) At that moment, each of the player generated less than one fresh move per day. The game became somehow boring.

3) The chances to find that move as a new one were smaller in my view than finding another move. In that case, keeping one possible submission in cache offered a better chance to catch the premium for the last submission.

4) Let's assume gsf or Mike finds the same move, then the game would have been restarted for one more day at minimum.

What is for sure is that the final issue would have been unpredictable if I had submitted the puzzle.

PS: BTW that pattern gave strange results. ED: 3.8 seems to be nearly impossible to pass.

We have few exceptions, and I have another puzzle in cache (not playable) with 9.4/9.4/7.1 so it's not a rule, but very close to
