now, as far as I can see, the pattern is correct, but this submission is not valid.

A higher 8.3 has been played (in fact a diamond 8.3/8.3/8.3)

This should not pevent you to continue.

My first game was horrible as well.

different ER from any previous puzzle in the current game or an ER/EP/ED greater than the highest submitted ER/EP/ED with the same ER by another player (a trump); trumping ones own entry (a self-trump) is not allowed

To avoid a further penalty, It looks like I first have to implement the 'minimal test'.
