said only admin can give that:(

he said somethign about that he could only do it by giving out his password.

yes
and Pat knows sharing the passwd is not a good idea
that's why I'm appealing via pm and this forum
so the admin can step in and at least let some of the users attack the problem

:)that would be a great idea if we ever hear from them.,

count me in to help as well.

isnt there a way to delete a user and there posts in one mass attempt?

ive used functions like that in diffrent forums not sure if this on has the option or not....

or is that only an admin functions here.... question might have been answered already.

edit:
come to think of this

If this situation continues for a week without remedy by a Real Networks admin ... sharing a password is going to look like a very good idea.

There are now almost 4900 spam topics added by bober and OrderOnline. At the current rate of ~80/hour, another week would add about 13,000 more.:(

Yesterday I sent a PM to each of our three moderators, none of whom has even read them. We've been abandoned:(

That is indeed much worse. I wonder if that's the result of spammer action ... or a corrupted attempt to ban the spammer.

my guess is, that Nick Hernandez did de-activate OnlineOrder, but neglected to force a log-off, hence the continued posting

as you said, it is pointless to delete stuff until the poster is banned

my PM to Nhernandez is time-stamped "2009.May.13 (Wed) 07:41:36 GMT" by the forum-clock, which presently already lags circa 24 hours, i.e. actually May.13 (Thu)

the point is,
this PM continues to sit in my Outbox
-- where it will remain until he reads it

it's been over 72 hours and he hasn't read it

i've also tried the in-direct route -- via e-mail to Customer Support ( rnmailbox@mailca.custhelp.com ) -- and did get a response ( quoted in my previous post )
    you can try them yourself

I have never seen as much spam before in my life.

I thought that there was a sort of "rule" that no-one can post twice in quick succession. Has that been destroyed as well!?

say the spammer is posting every 30 seconds
where the restriction may be, no second post within 10 seconds

I made that comment relative to my offer to spend a few hours manually deleting topics but now, with >5500 topics, that offer is moot.

but here gsf wrote:the bot's scripts can't run any faster than ours
anyone listening?
temporary topic/post delete privileges for gsf
please

So I'm now convinced a continuously running script could keep this site looking quite normal ... even if the bot hasn't yet been shut down. Despite a large backlog of deletions, a gsf script could (I think) give priority to the most recent spams.

To do this, however, gsf needs to be a moderator ... or have a moderator's password. Anyone listening?

Just out of interest, how do you count how many unwanted topics there are? There's no way to check the robot's post count...

(Argh... I've just found a SE=10.4/10.4/9.4 with 38 clues... but if I post in the maximum number of clues thread, it will not get noticed between the... er... stuff...)

defintly it needes stickied.

gets buried quickly
i had to search to find it.

blah.

coundl't we
have several script bots our selfs like 5/6 of them

and have them delete stuff every thirty seconds

compared to the # of bots 1 would keep up and the otheres would clean the mess?

bascially we'd need a few fake moderater accounts to do it.
which again... admin

arent the moderater functions for deleting only a coded line to execute or are they password applicable?

or another option....

if you gain access to
onlines account

set up our own bot on the

acount and have it post subtopics on the same thread or delete its posted topics 1 at a time.

to prevent the bot from being able to post.
all you have to do is figure out the refresh cycle and execute it befor the real bot posts.

Just out of interest, how do you count how many unwanted topics there are? There's no way to check the robot's post count...

search for author
onlineorder and search for topics:
Some do, some teach, the rest look it up.

I think we all agree that the current situation is unbearable! If the admins are not reacting within the next 24 hours or so, I think we will have no chance than to take matters into our own hands (meaning: one of the moderators would have to share his/her password, at least for some time).

I just got a PM from NHernandez, he said he'd banned user OnlineOrder and they are looking into removing all his posts.

Finally good news:D
