Perhaps it's the "sudoku.com" in the address instead of "www.sudoku.com" that gives it the strange effect...:?:

I'll post the link below, and also a version adding the "www.", and see if it makes any difference?

PS: Just checked it, the link without the "www." really gave me the impression that I was logged out, but when I went back to the original page containing the links and refreshed, I stayed logged in... So my guess is that the system in "http://sudoku.com" thought I wasn't logged in, while the system in "http://www.sudoku.com" thought I was...:!:

I've just tried the two links udosuk posted and I get the same thing:
Clicking on "http://sudoku.com" and it says I have to login at the top of the page and clicking "http://www.sudoku.com" it states I've already logged in.
As to why, maybe someone will explain.

Because www.sudoku.com and sudoku.com don't use the same autologin cookie:?:

Up until today I've been unable to login automatically even when I've deleted any cookies, but after a bit of delving if you:

Click on tools (top task bar) - Internet options - Click on Contents tab - Click on Settings in Autocomplete and select the box/boxes you want to use - Click OK twice.

On returning to this site I needed to input my username and password, select and click auto login but it seems to have done the trick:D

Edit.
Oh no it hasn't:(
On the day I was unable to log off, and on leaving the site and returning later I did not need to login, but these last two days I've had to login manually.
Back to the drawing-board.
