Many moons ago, someone posted an x-sudoku here whose clues were all on 3 symmetrically disposed rows. The minimum number of clues for an x-sudoku is 12, and I wondered what it might be for these highly constrained ones. The minimum I found was 16. Can anyone do better? In the samples below, only the first has a clue on a diagonal.

I've also checked for 12's and I'm pretty sure there are none, so IMHO 13 is your minimum number.

Hi Mike, if you want an extra challenge, how about finding the full list of the 13 clue puzzles. I have 280 at the moment, listed in the 13 clues post above.

Given the fact that there are over half a million known 12-clue x-sudokus, I think I'll give that a miss! (Or did you mean those with all clues on 3 rows? There are none with 12 clues.)

Hi Mike,

I meant only the Rows 3, 5 & 7 variety studied in this thread. Of all the known 12 clue puzzles none have all clues in just 3 rows.
