Yet Another Security Breach!

Postby Son of Pappocom » Sat Feb 18, 2006 2:10 am

Hi folks,

One warm Saturday morning I was happily tapping away on my computer when it came to my attention that a website was down. The Saturday morning? This morning. The computer? My computer. The site? These very forums, for the second time in two months. I was not amused.

However, it was my fault. Apologies all round as I haven't been keeping up-to-date enough on matters of security. The forums have been restored from a backup, but it looks like we've lost the last 24-48 hours of posts.

Thanks to Animator for invaluable help getting back up and running. He also suggests, wisely, that you change your forum password, and if you use your forum password for any other services, change those as well. It's near impossible to tell with any certainty how "serious" this was, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Regards
Scott
