XYZ-Wing (Row-Column wise) Transport

Postby rjamil » Sun Nov 11, 2018 3:11 am

Hi experts,

Currently I am analysing all aspects of XY & XYZ Wings Transport move patterns. Programmed and tested 58 patterns of XY-Wing (Row-Column wise), 23 patterns of XY-Wing (Box-Line wise) and 22 patterns of XYZ-Wing (obviously Box-Line wise) Transport moves satisfactorily.

Now thinking about XYZ-Wing (useless, Row-Column wise) Transport move patterns. Please note that I do understand that there is no direct elimination possible for an XYZ-Wing Row-Column wise move. But what about Transport move patterns eliminations?

Note: Since I am typing from smartphone therefore no exemplars included, but will provide as and when needed.

Updated as on 20181113: Added all patterns.
Note that numer before first And second band separator line denote total variations of a pattern.
For rest of the markings, please ignore them at the moment.

Added as on 20181123: Note: XYZ-Transport concept taken from here.
Coded for all 35 exemplars but exemplars # 21-24, reduced line ring, not working/produced error.
XYZ-Transport exemplar number is similar to as XY-Wing (Row-Column wise) Transport for reference only.
Added as on 20181126: Exemplars 21 & 22 ok, however, from exemplars 23 & 24, remove unnecessary wings' box other cells eliminations result XYZ-Transport moves detection working.
Updated as on 20181130: additional exclusions in exemplars 55 & 56 as per below mentioned creint advise.

Hi all,

Wish to inform that the XYZ-Transport move 35 exemplars have been coded successfully and under testing phase.

Sharing following example puzzle taken from here:

There are more patterns possible probably because it seems like all of the examples are XYZ wing + grouped chain.
There must be a z inside the XYZ wing so exclusion when a chain forces that.

Example 1 for example can contain also example 2, so you get 2 exclusions with same XYZ wing does your solver catch that as 1 group?

Checked the last 3 with Xsudo and found:
Example 55 you may exclude z from row 5 in box 5
Example 56 you may exclude z from column 5 in box 5

that is because the "transport" moves are als-xz/xy etc functions with an extension chain off the restricted "z" candidate of the als function.

Example 55 you may exclude z from row 5 in box 5
Example 56 you may exclude z from column 5 in box 5
correct

Hi all,

creint wrote:There are more patterns possible probably because it seems like all of the examples are XYZ wing + grouped chain.

I have implemented those patterns that contain only one strong/weak link. This is my first attempt to program XYZ-Transport move. If there are more patterns possible with one strong/weak link then please help to construct them all.

creint wrote:Example 1 for example can contain also example 2, so you get 2 exclusions with same XYZ wing does your solver catch that as 1 group?

My solver catches each pattern one by one at a time. If another pattern lying at the same time but vanished after first pattern exclusions perform then it won't find second one.

creint wrote:Checked the last 3 with Xsudo and found:

StrmCkr wrote:correct

Many thanks for pointed out additional exclusions in exemplars 55 and 56 by creint and confirmed by StrmCkr. I will definitely implement the same in to my solver accordingly.

R. Jamil

Added: The above mentioned exclusions will be included in following transport patterns/exemplars:
1) In XY-Wing Type 1 (Row-Column wise) Transport: Exemplars 55 & 56
2) In XY-Wing Type 2 (Box-Line wise) Transport: Exemplar 15
3) In XYZ-Transport (Row-Column wise): Exemplars 55 & 56
4) In XYZ-Wing Transport (Box-Line wise): Exemplar 11

Hi,

Wish to inform that the above mentioned additional exclusions within mini-line have been updated in to my solver successfully.

Now, waiting for additional patterns/exemplars of XYZ-Transport having only one strong/weak link to be provided by expert, if any.

Or confirmation regarding only 35 patterns of XYZ-Transport as compared to 58 patterns of XY-Wing Transport (Row-Column wise).

using xsudo v-2 by allan barker under edit -> quick edit.
its pretty easy to setup and test your logic.

all 35 test cases are correct, and the eliminations are sound for this function.
-- i cannot confirm this is all the scenarios

Please note that I do understand that there is no direct elimination possible for an XYZ-Wing Row-Column wise move. But what about Transport move patterns eliminations?

............ this one breaks that.............

hopefully its sheds some direct light on why i said my solver uses ALS-xz search engine for transport eliminations. {as it is very relatable to your examples by shifting where the xz cell lands in the col}

instead of a "wing" search function ie a forced fixed box restriction of the xyz-wing,wxyz-- wing by using exclusively a box + (row/col) for the A & B sets instead of combinations of R,C,B { between the two sets. }

Code: Select all
+----------------+---------+------------+

Hi StrmCkr,

StrmCkr wrote:using xsudo v-2 by allan barker under edit -> quick edit.

I do have XSUDO-V2 Version 2.03 by R. Allan Barker, but don't know how to setup and test the exemplar/pattern.

StrmCkr wrote:all 35 test cases are correct, and the eliminations are sound for this function.

Many thanks for the confirmation regarding the correctness of XYZ-Transport (Row-Column wise) all 35 exemplars/patterns.

StrmCkr wrote:-- i cannot confirm this is all the scenarios

Please note that, I have derived XYZ-Transport (Row-Column wise) 35 exemplars from XY-Wing Transport (Row-Column wise) 58 exemplars that were already incorporated in to my solver.

This one is based on XYZ-Wing (Box-Line wise) Transport, and I have already coded 22 exemplars. Thanks for providing the idea of generating more patterns. I will rethinking them manually for discovering more exemplars.

like this ring version:
Code: Select all
+-------------------+------------+----------------+
| -2    -12    -2   | .   .   .  | .    -1    .   |

| .     -1     .    | .   .   .  | .    -1    .   |
+-------------------+------------+----------------+

The above ERI Ring has already considered and mentioned as exemplar # 11; and additional exclusions has also been incorporated as per advised by creint.

R. Jamil

Added: With my limited knowledge, am able to generate only 2 additional exemplars for both XY-Wing (Box-Line wise) and XYZ-Wing (Box-Line wise) as follows:

Re: XYZ-Wing (Row-Column wise) Transport

Postby rjamil » Sat Sep 14, 2019 8:25 am

Hi experts,

While I am shrinking my Transport routine, got an idea as how to merge various similar patterns in to combined search routines. Wish to inform that some new patterns were also discovered and under analyzing/work in progress phase. Here I am sharing a combined pattern generated during shrinking the code for reference purpose only.

By combining A) XY-Wing Type 1 Transport (Row-Column wise):- ERI and Reduced ERI exemplars, generate following patterns:
Code: Select all
ERI (1 exclusion)                           Reduced ERI (up to 2 exclusions)

Please note that the same routine will also search XYZ-Transport (Row-Column wise) move.

Hope that new patterns will maintain the speed of my program with reduced in number of lines and human-editable source code. I will keep adding remarks/explanations where necessary.

However, due to working in various areas/aspacts at the same time, source code sharing postpond for long time. I.e., changing debugging cell number (0 to 80) to r1c1 fixed format. In some moves, cell numbers will shown in one bundled form (eg, Locked candidate Type 2 (Claiming): 8 @ r2c123 => -8 @ r13c123, Locked candidate Type 1 (Pointing): 3 @ r5c123 => -3 @ r5c456789).

Re: XYZ-Wing (Row-Column wise) Transport

Postby rjamil » Sat Oct 05, 2019 3:57 pm

Hi experts,

Wish to inform that I have completed the XY-Wing (Row-Column wise) Transport and XYZ-Transport (Row-Column wise) routine merging successfully.

Tested above mentioned patterns. Now XY-Wing (Row-Column wise) Transport routine detect total 84 patterns (previously total 58) and XYZ-Transport detect total 43 patterns (previously 35) without compromising in speed and increased puzzles solved without guessing statistics (for eg, 9562 out of Ruud's 50k specialty puzzles solved without guessing in less than 35 sec). Also, rectified bug in step by step debugging caused due merging and shrinking the code.

Now I am applying the same merging and shrinking the code aspect in to XY- and XYZ-Wing Transport (Box-Line wise) routine.

Here I am sharing two new patterns discovered accidently, two missed unexpectedly and two eliminations within patterns for correcting the record:
Hidden Text: Show
Code: Select all
Missed patterns:-

However, need expert confirmation regarding that there is no reduced Line/ERI pattern in Box-Line wise Transport exemplars.

Source code will be shared after rectifying the bug in Box-Line wise Transport step by step debugging routine with merging and shrinking the same routine soon.
