Sorry Ruud:( sorry's not the right answer, but

Apologise is, as per your explanation.

Well done emm:D got one at last.

To all those who have looked in but have not joined in, it's been hard going for emm, ruud, tarek and luna, we need more input from people, so if you have the slightest inkling of what an answer might be, don't be afraid to have a say, you'll never know, you might be right.

I would be thinking of "Apologize" instead!
Does American English throw everyone off?

Guess you have to find something for "guize"...

Guize:
The term used for a cool person or a group of friends that hang out together.
Me and my guizes all went out to pick up chicks at the bar last night.

BTW I've also participated (though not as committed as the other guys/gals)! Why don't I get mentioned?:?::D

The '-ize' ending is also used in the main word in the Oxford English Dictionary, but you could also use the '-ise' ending.

This is a dictionary of modern slang.

I don't think the word 'guize' is used in Britain but I may be wrong.

Apologies for not mentioning you udosuk and for anyone else I missed, but I went by the available posts at the bottom of the 'post a reply' screen, this does not cover the whole thread. I'd remembered luna had also posted but could not offhand remember anyone else at the time.

Yay, I got one - credit to Ruud for Apollo - somewhere I'd read that he was a pretender to the throne and so had discounted him.

You do have a knack for back-handed compliments, MCC - but you're right, it is rather at last - a quick check reveals that I've made about 30 incorrect guesses for 1 correct. I don't know if that's inspiring or not but it's the benchmark.

I think jimbob should get a mention too for the highest success rate - 2 guesses / 1 winner.:D
