What am I? (34)

Anything goes, but keep it seemly...

What am I? (34)

While everyone's banging their heads against the wall trying to solve MCC's question, here's an easier one.

What am I?

"21 is my end,
The countdown's begun.
Will the London Olympics
Be the last one?"

(BTW I think this poem doesn't rhyme):D

To get things started.

You're an Olympic contestant and after 2012 you're be too old to compete:?:

How a bout about a "Ruler" with "inches" only marked on the side of it.

With the current trend shifting towards the metric system, 2012 might be the end of it.....

I suspect tarek's got it.
Although I might feel a right "Charlie" if proven wrong:)

:(I thought it might refer to a 21-gun (or Royal) salute and unless "Charlie" became a "ruler" then the Olympics might be the last time we heard such a thing (for his Mum, of course, would be getting on a bit by then).

Very clever answer, but no cylindrical-shaped smoking utensil.

"21 must be a measure of some kind..........

With the wet conditions affecting the UK....... would it be possible that this measures the height of some "water body"....

Global warming still going on strong....Kingston-upon-Hull maybe the 1st to suffer

21 is a measure of some kind - not water.

Hey! I was born in Hull! (but I only lived there for 6 months so if it does go under the waves it doesn't hold any fond memories)

Here's another clue;

"My difference is 105, but still the same."

I wouldn't worry too much, remember hulls float unless they got holes in them.

The Mayan calendar is 260 day long.
Therefore a difference of 105 days.

The last (final) day of the Mayan calendar is:
Dec 21, 2012
When something major is supposed to happen.

Mike, a few more helpful clues might have helped, to divert us away from the Olympics.
