Nothing to do with the Euro.

The E.U. is another matter.

Each of the four words mean "London" in the following countries:

Londres..... France, Spain, Portugal and Catalonia

Londra.......Albania, Italy, Romania and Turkey

Londyn ......Czechozlavakia and Slovakia

Lontoo .......Finland

The word "London" can't be included in the list because it isn't a translation of this word in another country.

Haven't figured out the clue as to what "E.U." means though.

I'm in unfamiliar territory here but all these countries seem to be in Europe so does "E.U." stand for European Union?

The above is true.

The fact that it was London I chose doesn't matter, I could have choosen:

Praag
Prag
Prago
Prague
Prog

Why cannot "Praha" be included in the list above:?:

It is one word I'm after, which discribes why "London" or "Praha" cannot be included in their respective lists.

E.U. does mean European Union, but don't bother with this line of inquiry.

Because it isn't a destination from that airport?

Excellent Cec, That to me sounds like the correct answer....

indeed the 2 lists above are exonyms while London & Praha are endonyms........

I don't what Cec is on but he seems to be reading my mind at the moment.

I would have accepted "Exonym" or "Endonym".

As explained by tarek - The lists are examples of "Exonyms", London & Praha are "Endonyms".
An exonym is a name for a place that is not used within that place by the local inhabitants, or a name for a people that is not used by that people. The name used by the people or locals themselves is an endonym or autonym.
So, well done Cec.

Without the wikipedia search link I wouldn't have known what "Exonym" or "Endonym" meant.

As to what I'm on I never have more than one glass a day except when I break it!
