If I do not use UR I know at the end: "this is the unique solution".
If I do use UR, then I only know "the number of solutions is odd, and this is one of them", a weaker result.

But if you don't even see a valid UR, then at the end you can't be sure "this is the unique solution" anyway.

If you never use a tactic such as BUG or UR that relies on the uniqueness of the the solution, and the puzzle DOES have more than one solution, you will never be able to justifiably finish puzzle.

As far as it being a "weaker result" -- I don't know why that should come into play if your goal is to solve a puzzle from a trusted source. Seems like an arbitrary handicap.

That certainly makes sense. I'll have to remove clue(s) from some easy puzzles to gain a little experience with non-uniqueness. Thanks, Ron
