Times Shogun Su Doku (21.01.06)

For fans of Killer Sudoku, Samurai Sudoku and other variants

Times Shogun Su Doku (21.01.06)

Postby afjt » Tue Jan 24, 2006 7:54 pm

The supplement claims it is "the biggest puzzle ever". However, it only has 11 overlapping puzzles, whereas there are 13 in the following puzzle...

I haven't done the Times puzzle myself (too tedious !), but their target time is only 115 minutes, so I don't expect it will be too hard !

Apologies - I have just spotted this thread http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/viewtopic.php?t=2959 in the Pappacom section (even though I suspect it is a non-Pappacom puzzle)

Yeah, I think it must be a non-Pappocom. In fairness, I think they only claime it was the largest published puzzle - which of course depends on your definition of 'published', but there you go.

Is the shogun puzzle from the 21st available for download anywhere? I cannot find it at The Times site.

Thanks,
George

I don't think so. Puzzles from the occasional special suduko supplements do not seem to appear on their website.

You can get to it from http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,18209,00.html but this may not be a permanent link.

Well, I finally got around to doing and finishing this beastie (after an aborted first attempt). It took me nearly 8 hours, but the satisfaction at the end far outweighed the time spent on it. Definitely one of the most challenging and rewarding puzzles of this kind that I've done.

TN Mike, when's that E-book coming out?

Okay, you have a wonderful page that comes up with a "Super Samurai SuDoku," but do you happen to have another page with a solution?

It's available now.

There'll hopefully be a second edition (free download for purchasers of the current edition) with better cover art along just as soon as the graphic designer gets over the flu:)

And there's a little something called the Shaolin Sudoku that we've cooked up as well...

(No link, 'coz I'm not one to promote commercial products on anothers website.)
