The quote-button

Postby RW » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:02 am

Would it be possible to make the Quote-button on each post visible also to offline visitors, like it was on the old forums? I'm usually not logged in by default and when I see a post I would like to quote and reply to, it would be much easier to press the quote-button (which takes me to the login page and then to the reply page with the quote) than to scroll up the page, find the login button, then scroll down the page again to find the post I wish to quote. Just a minor annoyance...

They seem to have removed that option from the newer versions of phpBB and I can't find a mod to add it back in.

see if phpBB 3.0.x ‹ 3.0.x Styles Forums ‹ [3.0.x] Styles Support & Discussion helps

gsf, thanks for the link!

The quote button is now available even when you are not logged in. Clicking on quote when you are not logged in will take you to a login page when you click it, and from there on to the posting page with the quote in place.

So it worked after all! Thank you very much! I just noticed that the quote button is now also visible on the posts in the topic review window while writing a new post. This sure might come in handy!

This will allow you to quote several posts from the "Post a reply" box without needing the traditional "quote, copy & paste" which needed to be done previously (so yes, very very handy :D ).

One additional forum feature that is very useful ... is the hidden text box feature, currently present on the sudoku solver forums & not here. It will allow hiding a long list of puzzles or a walkthorough. It allows smoother scrolling through the thread.

This feature is usually achieved through a [ collapse= ] or a [ hidden ] tags.

I've checked that the hidden text is present on the "page source". That means that it will be available through search & will be picked up when backing up the forum.

Do you mean like this:
Hidden Text: Show
Not visible at first.
Code: Select all
[hidden]Not visible at first.[/hidden]

Or this:
Here hides some hidden text: Show
Not visible at first.
Code: Select all
[hidden=Here hides some hidden text]Not visible at first.[/hidden]

8-)

Apparantly it works: Show
Thanks, I though it wasn't there, but obviously it is. This feature should be very helpful.
