Sudoku rival on National TV

I am a huge Sudoku fan. Hard to believe but it actually looks like someone might actually have a chance at taking on the popularity of Sudoku.
The puzzle is called "Str8ts" and it is really enjoyable. Here is a link to the show

Str8ts is neat, but it's no Sudoku. There have been many many puzzles that have tried to be "the next thing after Sudoku". None of them have made it so far. I very much doubt that this one will. Also, I don't believe that any puzzle which is trademarked and licensed can ever be anywhere near as large as Sudoku has become.

I think this game was advertised on these forums before .... something to do with whoever left the SudokuSolver/Mepham partnership IIRC. I could be wrong

[Edit:

It was a simple search after all .... Here is a link to an old thread http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/post68364.html

@ Ashton, Waterfall, Jeff or Andrew .... Since the variant was introduced in late 2007, I did not really hear of it unless it was mentioned in the few advertising posts here and there. But hey, It is possible that the Canadian version of Dragons den could kick start the Str8ts global domination

Best of luck
