Does anyone know what happened to the sudoku.org.uk website?
This is/was a competitive competition site with leaderboards in various competitions, not just sudoku.
Over the years, there have been several issues, mainly in January, where the change of year often seemed to pose unexpected problems.
No more; the site has been inaccessible since around 22nd June 2026.

any information would be appreciated

I can't find any info, why the site has gone. I've been doing the daily & weekly puzzles almost since the beginning & was on all 6 leader boards.
Luckily I printed off quite a few puzzles but will soon have finished these.

I'm also a long time Extreme and Killer Sudoku achiever in www.sudoku.org.uk.
My name there is Yeoh Ah Chai from Malaysia.I asked 'google' the following question 'What happened to www.sudoku.org.uk? The reply: The website www.sudoku.org.uk was permanently shutdown after years of hosting......

Sorry, I didn't realise you were the one who posed the question on the above topic as I was rather groggy in the early hours (4 am) of the morning. You must be one of the Sudoku achievers to show concern on the demise of www.sudoku.org.uk. I would like to know your name/username there and which country you are from. Perhaps we may benefit from each other's expertise in Sudoku.

hi all,
I posted the original report of this problem and I'm in the UK

I just tried the site (again!!) and the site is not up and well but error msg has changed
the home page gives server error404, and access of the future puzzles calendar also gives a (different ) server error

I believe this (the change of error screen) happened in 2019 and was followed by the site being fully functional very soon after.......

I see that you are still hopeful, but the damper from Google is as follows:

The website www.sudoku.org.uk has permanently shut down after years of hosting the famous Mike Mepham daily puzzles for UK newspapers like The Daily Telegraph.
The site's closure was a gradual process marked by the following events :

* Server Outages: The platform suffered from prolonged Technical issues and server blackouts dating as far back as 2015 and 2019. Disgruntled users frequently noted on platforms like Enjoy Sudoku Forum that the site would go completely offline for weeks at a time.

* Flash Dependency: Much of the site's interactive elements (including it's sister Kakuro game portals) relied heavily on Adobe Flash Player. When web browsers universally stopped supporting Flash, the site became largely non-functioal.

* Domain Retirement: Instead of modernizing the underlying code to HTMLS, the creators chose to retire the website completely, allowing the domain registration to lapse.'

Looks it's the end for this website.
