Hi Bill, I have solved the problem of clue-formatting - see "Kakuro Xword" in the Kakuro section.

SSX puzzle sample

Postby Mathimagics » Fri Apr 08, 2016 1:15 pm

KXW now handles puzzles in SSX mode - that is, on arbitrary Kakuro grids. I have retained the restricted domain requirement, so all words must have property CD (in KXW parlance), and have come up with a display format that looks reasonable, I think.

KXW labels complement-visibility clues as "Xjk", by the way.

Note that I don't display redundant clues (for word size N, V1N => XN1)

Solution:
Hidden Text: Show
2314x21xx
34257168x
56x213465
47365x234
x8234657x
654x25314
795864x23
x21637845
xx67x8756

I intend next to investigate the behaviour of pU (probability of random grid having unique solution) for all Skyscraper modes (classic LS format, Kakuro format) with and without the extra clues.
