Can each of these 5 variant grids be solved separately?
I hope to find out in a couple of days. I already found the jigsaw is solvable as separate puzzle.

You can't expect many responses when you fail to post text versions of the puzzles that can be easily copied. M

It was late at night.
Here they come:

Grid 1 on its own has multiple solutions, but once eliminations are done in box 9 from clues in grid 3, it solves easily, ED=2.8

Grid 2 solves on its own (as noted in OP), ED=1.7
Code: Select all
.5.7.8.2.1.7...8.5.9.....8.2...4...1...6.1...6.8.1...4...5...9.......6.8...3.2.1. 112334444122233344123335354122665554112655774112665777888665797888669797888999999 JS

SumoCueV1=0J0=5J0=0J1=7J2=0J2=8J3=0J3=2J3=0J3=1J0=0J1=7J1=0J1=0J2=0J2=8J2=0J3=5J3=0J0=9J1=0J2=0J2=0J2=0J4=0J2=8J4=0J3=2J0=0J1=0J1=0J5=4J5=0J4=0J4=0J4=1J3=0J0=0J0=0J1=6J5=0J4=1J4=0J6=0J6=0J3=6J0=0J0=8J1=0J5=1J5=0J4=0J6=0J6=4J6=0J7=0J7=0J7=5J5=0J5=0J4=0J6=9J8=0J6=0J7=0J7=0J7=0J5=0J5=0J8=6J6=0J8=8J6=0J7=0J7=0J7=3J8=0J8=2J8=0J8=1J8=0J8

Grid 3 on its own has multiple solutions, but after filling boxes 1 and 3, and eliminating candidates in box 7 from clues in grid 4, it solves with singles only, ED=1.2

I've not done grids 4 and 5, but I'm assuming they'll solve with singles!

It was late at night. I needed 2,5 hours to solve them manually with pencilmarks on paper.
The Jigsaw is a good starting point, because it is a separate puzzle.
I will add the text version now.

If I treat TL as X, fill in the full solution for TR (as I don't have jigsaw code), and treat M, BL and BR as standard sudokus, then I get this partial solution (where BL fails on just a UA4):
Code: Select all

  3  1  6  7  5  8  9  2  4           9  5  1  7  6  8  4  2  3
  9  5  4  3  1  2  6  7  8           1  2  7  4  9  3  8  6  5
  7  2  8  6  4  9  3  5  1           3  9  4  1  5  6  2  8  7
  2  7  9  4  3  5  1  8  6           2  6  5  8  4  9  3  7  1

Grids 4 and 5 on their own have multiple solutions, but after copying givens from grid 3 solution, they solve easily, ED=1.2 and ED=1.5 respectively.
