Log-in problem

Thanks again Scott for your feedback. As I recall I think it was you who previously suggested to me about a year ago that I download "Firefox" which solved another similar problem at that time and I've kept it going ever since as an alternative to Internet Explorer. Thanks also for the explanation as to what a "cookie" means which has enlightened me a bit further.

MCC, IECookiesView may let you delete individual cookies ... even though you can't see them in your 'user name'\Cookie directory. I've only used it once -- just now -- but the "testimonials" on the publisher's awards page make me think it's trustworthy. It is freeware available from this download page.

MCC, let us know if it works for you.

I very recently do not log on without intervention.

I have read this thread, I reject Firefox because it does not work
with a site I require.

I have deleted the cookies that were listed so far, there must be another?

Hi Wapati,

The easiest thing would be a blanket delete of all cookies and cache. Could you try that?

Well, yeah! Easiest for you. I will lose all the logins and message bookmarks for every site I go to, and hope that it fixes this one?

I have done that in the past. It is not fun.

Later, I will go to a site that forgets me, I don't like that at all.

I am here often, I sign in every day.

Tell me the exact cookies you set, I will hunt them down, how hard should it be for you to tell me your cookies?

I cleared my cache. I am NOT clearing all cookies to fix your site.

What cookies does your site set? I can expunge them if I know.

Reinstall windows before clear cookies, is my advice.

Pappa, very bad advice, IMHO.

Edit: Typo

Clearing cache is pretty safe and good.

Cookies...that can be a nightmare.

Hi Wapati,

The only cookies you get from our site will be under "sudoku.com" and have a prefix of "phpbb". I have three on my system but you may have fewer.

I still have problems.

I can connect with firefox. That leaves me to think Windows Explorer is the problem.

(Or I am a target. )

I found one attached to phpbb. One, none others. (Didn't fix it.)

"soduko.com" didn't work, but I tried it.

Cookies are txt files.

I have no cookies with "sudoku.com".

I found one with "phpbb" anywhere. Deleting it did not change my problem.

Of course deleting all cookies might work.

I visit a lot of sites.

Each site has a reason to control the output of that site, so as to not harm the visitors.
You should be able to tell any vistor what cookies are set by your site.

Your (not usefull) reply suggests that you do not know, because clearing the one cookie that you were aware of (phpbb) did not help.

"sudoku.com" is simply a bad joke. (No such cookie.)

Try looking for "www.sudoku.com" as well as "sudoku.com"

I will try, sudoku.com is a subset of "www.sudoku.com" so I expect no GOLD but I will try.

Thanks!
