Incidentally I think a big part of the problem is the "translation" of the puzzle title as "Killer Sudoku", which plays up the difficulty of the puzzle. A lot of people seem to think it's virtually impossible to solve, whereas once you learn the extra rules necessary to solve it it's not actually all that harder than the original Sudoku.

What I don't understand, is why the 4 numbers that they put in are the only 4 numbers that i could put in...

For me the 60 Pence cost of The Times breaks down thus:
- 30p The Killer su doku
- 20p The other 2 su dokus
- 1p Yesterday's solutions
- 7p The crossword
- 1p The Polygon anagram
- 1p The rest of the newspaper, news, weather, sport, etc.
