Hi,

I banged on my software, kicked it from the sides, and it coughed up this puzzle. Not a pretty one, but the Sudoku Explainer says that it’s decently difficult (8.5). So no nice pattern this time; instead, I put a diagonally symmetric “Tortoise” puzzle in the “Books” section of this forum ("Tortoise" is not as decently difficult though – 7.3).

Nice logic! I don't mind the complexity, but I have a bit of a hard time following those undifferentiated memory markers, and I'd really like to see strong links at both ends. But, we all have different preferences and that makes life interesting. I might write your chain like this:

Hi all,

First of all, am unable to solve this puzzle without guess.

But, interestingly to share some thoughts. After a hidden pair in box 6 clues 28, there are only two cells left that have only 2 clues remain, i.e., r49c7.

After guessing first clue from first cell (or by applying any complex move by Clement, Cenoman and SpAce), i.e., [either] 3 @ r4c7 [or 5 @ r9c7], my program solve stte i/o lclste.

Note: Try to find Hidden single first.

Has anyone else tried the Tortoise mentioned in the original post? Despite the lower SE rating, it seemed much more challenging to find a single step solution. At least mine is absolutely horrible Hodoku didn't even find any. Can anyone find something simpler?
