Advanced methods and approaches for solving Sudoku puzzles

Postby Hud » Tue Nov 01, 2005 10:51 pm

I hesitate to come running to you folks everytime I have a problem, but I'm pretty well stuck on this one. I verified that the entries are correct and hope the pencil marks are also, but who knows?

4 5 139 8 239 6 29 17 1237
8 2 139 14 7 5 49 6 13
7 36 1369 14 239 23 2459 8 1235

1239 4 27 5 23 8 6 179 127
239 379 5 6 1 237 8 79 4
126 67 8 9 4 27 25 3 1257

5 1 4 7 8 9 3 2 6
29 79 27 3 6 4 1 5 8
36 8 36 2 5 1 7 4 9

Any tips would be appreciated.

Try looking for an X-wing (for 3s). This leads to eliminations thus showing a naked pair in column 1.

Let us know if that's enough to get you unstuck:)

Thanks for the fast replies. I started it over and have done better in about 10 minutes. I'll see how it goes before trying the suggestions posted.

OK, it shook right out this time. I will file away the suggestions for future use though. Thanks again from "the boy who cried wolf" GO

That’s a long list – I’m glad none of mine were on it. See - I did make them up!

Here are two tips for you :

1. The links should come up in blue letters as - http://da.co.la.ca.us/pok/poklist.htm. The trick is to preview before you submit, then you can adjust your message before it hits the big screen.

2. If you do make a mistake you can edit – the edit button comes up beside your previous posts when you log on. If you edit before anyone else has answered, you get away with it, otherwise your FE is noted underneath.
