"Code": Requesting posting instructions

Postby Luke » Mon Aug 28, 2006 6:42 pm

Can someone provide a more detailed explanation as to how to use the "Code" button to insert a grid into a post (like this, for example
http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/viewtopic.php?t=2510).

Does every dot and dash have to be typed in individually? The "Code" inserts seem to be uniform as if a template was used. I can't find a FAQ on this, I've looked.

Also, how are graphics imported into a post like those in this link?

Thanks!

See here for how to use BBcode buttons:

Graphics requires an off-site post and a IMG tag to the URL. I believe a number of people use this site:

Others just post using pencilmark grids. Good examples abound in the forum.

Try Simple Sudoku as it will output the grids in the desired format. Copy from SS, paste into your reply, select the whole bit to be "Coded" and click on the Code button:
Code: Select all
 *-----------*
 |1..|4..|.8.|
 |...|..9|...|
 |7..|.2.|..6|
 |---+---+---|
 |.3.|.6.|...|
 |5.4|...|.3.|
 |...|2.1|...|
 |---+---+---|
 |...|...|9..|
 |6..|.7.|..2|
 |..8|...|.4.|
 *-----------*

 *-----------*
 |123|456|789|
 |456|789|123|
 |789|123|456|
 |---+---+---|
 |231|564|897|
 |564|897|231|
 |897|231|564|
 |---+---+---|
 |312|645|978|
 |645|978|312|
 |978|312|645|
 *-----------*

Note that text within a Code box can't have its colour, size etc. changed.
