Can't delete a post

Postby Marty R. » Wed Aug 26, 2015 6:39 pm

On Tuesday night I thought I deleted a post on the Puzzles sub-forum. I don't know what went wrong, but on Wednesday the post was still there and I no longer see a delete option.

What I did was edit the post and delete the text.

Hi Marty, I think there is a trick you can try. Edit the post again and confirm the edit to create a "new" post. You then get about 10 minutes in which a delete x button is available for the "new" post.

Click the delete button and the "new'' post will be deleted. Let me know how you get on.

I'm not sure, but I think you can delete your own post until someone else reads it. Then you can edit it, but not delete it.

I tried Leren's trick on one of my older posts, but I couldn't get it to work.

On Wednesday evening I made a post and didn't see the delete option a little while later. I think it may be the same as what I've seen on other forums, i.e., you can't delete after another post after it is made. Things can get confusing if you delete it and subsequent posts quoted or responded to it.

Correct. You can delete your own posts only if they are the last post in a topic.
