On 1 January 2006 and after a "forcing chain" whose shortness would rival anything the experts of the Solving Techniques forum could devise, to stocku and 9X9 a son, a brother for their one year-old daughter. Mother and baby both well.

Details of chain (all GMT - which sometimes seems to be at variance with the times shown in the threads):-

1620 - stocku (baby due 2 January but all quiet) posts to Wishlist forum.

1735 - stocku feels "twinge".

1815 - 9X9 overrules stocku after more "twinges" and calls out midwife.

1855 - midwife arrives.

1905 - midwife assesses situation as 4.5 cm dilated and progressing fast and orders immediate departure for hospital.

1910 - "convoy" leaves for hospital, 9X9 driving stocku and one year-old, midwife following.

1935 - five minutes from hospital when stocku feels baby's head emerging.

1940 - "convoy" arrives at hospital after 9X9 puts Formula 1 to shame and jumps three red lights in succession.

1941 - stocku and midwife don't wait for lift but hightail it (as best as stocku can) up three flights of stairs to delivery suite.

1942 - 9X9 and one year-old (the latter being a "steady Eddie" where stairs are concerned) take lift instead and arrive in delivery suite just as son does.

1945 - hand a'trembling 9X9 cuts cord at midwife's invitation and all well.

I think this forum would like to congratulate Stocku and 9x9 on the birth of their baby, and wish them all the best for 2006, what a great way to start the new year :!:

The adrenalin is still pumping!! Tks Crazy Girl, we've known since the 20 week scan that it was a boy and it's Matthew John.

Congrats 9x9. Can he do swordfish yet? When our second one came my wife made me finish my hotdog before taking her to the hospital. I couldn't stand to watch her squirm and took her in. Robert came out almost immediately. The second one comes faster than the first as we both now know. Our baby just turned 40; how sad.
